Review: e.l.f. Essential Lip Balm Tint

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying the final days of 2013 and are getting ready for 2014! We are all getting older, face it, and the winter months can even cause some more annoying skin problems: dryness.

Especially for your lips, no one likes that dry flake that sticks out when you talk, like ewww.

So today I will be reviewing a product I had for quite some time now, and that is the e.l.f. lip balm tint from the essential line.

Top of product's packaging

Claims

From e.l.f.'s website: "This lightly tinted lip balm gives the perfect flush of color for a beautiful, natural look. The Coconut, Grape, Shea Butter and Rice Wax infused formula conditions lips on contact for long-lasting, hydrating comfort."

Basically it gives off a bit of color and moisture, which is a great product for those on the go type events.

Price

As all of e.l.f.'s products, it is inexpensive at only $2! Most of the essential line is at $1, but some other products, like this one, are exceptions and are $2.
You can get the full color range at e.l.f.'s site and some of e.l.f.'s products can also be found at Target.

Packaging

This item is delivered in a pot in that you twist off the cap. It isn't the most convenient since you have to use your fingers to apply the product, which is what I do, but you can always carry a lip brush around if you want to re-apply throughout the day.

Colors

This product comes in four different colors, which is fine because the pigmentation is sheer and you don't need a variety to create different looks.

I own the darkest one, Berry. It is pictured as a darker, almost a brick red type of shade, but is actually lighter in person. In real life and in natural lighting, it appears as a brighter, blue based red then in the picture on e.l.f.'s website.

My sister has the second to darkest shade, Grapefruit. It is a brighter coral color in real life than a pinky mauve on the wesite.

Swatches from left to right: Berry, Grapefruit

The other two lightest colors are Nude and Peach, which is displayed as a skin tone and a bright orange color, respectively. I assume that they would be as bright in the picture on e.l.f's site, but don't take my word for it!

Scent

It does have a light vanilla scent, which I personally like. However, it is not overpowering so to those ladies with sensitive noses, I don't think it will interfere with your love of this product.

Final Thoughts

As you can see from the swatches, they are quite sheer but do give off more color than I was expecting. The tints look very natural on the lips and provide a smooth canvas for any other lip color you would apply after. They are hydrating for about a couple hours, and the color wears off within an hour or so. These are great items to use in your morning skincare routine to prep the lips for future applications.

Overall, I really enjoy this and I think it is a real bargain at $2!

Go get some right now, I mean if you want ;)

Thank you guys for reading and have a great day!
